TouchEngine production.TouchEngine entered a trial production at one of the Sony factories in Japan in 2005. It suppoused to sold as a basic user hardware component for designing tactile user interfaces, as presented in the following Sony press release. Photographs below show the TouchEngine production launch ceremony at Sony factory that I attended.

Sony UCP-8060 Universal Control Panel.TouchEngine haptic interface was used in Sony UCP-8060 Universal Control Panel, which is an accessory for a line of professional broadcasting equipment produced by Sony. UCP-8060 released in 2002 was the very first commercial product in the world that introduced tactile feedback for touch screen user interfaces. An operting manula, in Japanese, can be downloaded here. TouchEngine set up is explained on page 14.
